- Remusie?
Wysoki mężczyzna w zniszczonych szatach rzucił rozmówcy pytające spojrzenie. Na jego twarzy było widać ślady po niedawnych łzach.
- Remusie, naprawdę mi przykro. Lily i James... To byli naprawdę wspaniali ludzie. Chciałbym móc zrobić cokolwiek, aby przywrócić im życie...
- Ale dlaczego oni? Co było w nich takiego, że Sam – Wiesz – Kto tak bardzo chciał ich zabić?
- Byli naprawdę utalentowanymi czarodziejami, może Voldemort chciał przeciągnąć ich na swoją stronę, a kiedy się nie zgodzili, po prostu ich zabił? A może miał jeszcze inny, tylko jemu znany powód?
- A Harry? Dlaczego chciał zabić też Harry’ego? I dlaczego mu się to nie udało?
- Tego niestety nie wiem, a na razie znam za mało faktów, by móc cokolwiek przypuszczać. Ale cokolwiek to było, sprawiło, że Voldemort zniknął, rozpłynął się w powietrzu.
- A co teraz będzie z Harry’m i Sarą? Kto się nimi zajmie?
- Harry’ego zabiorę do Durley’ów, a...
- Do siostry Lily i jej męża? Na Merlina, przecież to mugole! Nie będą potrafili się nim zaopiekować!
- Tak, wiem, Remusie, ale to będzie dla niego najlepsze. Harry’emu cały czas grozi niebezpieczeństwo ze strony śmierciożerców, a podejrzewam, że Voldemort także nie zniknął na zawsze i w każdej chwili może powrócić. Powtarzam, tam będzie najbezpieczniejszy.
- Ale dlaczego...?
- Remusie, zaufaj mi. Kiedyś ci o tym wszystkim opowiem, teraz jednak chciałbym porozmawiać jeszcze o Sarah.
- Co z nią będzie? Też trafi do Dursey’ów?
- Nie, nie sądzę żeby była w aż takim niebezpieczeństwie. Przynajmniej na razie. Chciałbym, abyś ty się nią zaopiekował.
- Co? Nie, nie mogę, przecież wiesz. Mógłbym jej zrobić krzywdę. Powinien się nią zająć ktoś, kto nie będzie dla niej stanowił niebezpieczeństwa.
- Uważam, że jesteś najlepszym kandydatem na jej opiekuna.
- Ale pełnia...
- Pomogą ci też inni członkowie Zakonu Feniksa. Przez te kilka dni z chęcią zajmie się nią Molly albo Minerva.
- Sam nie wiem, Albusie... Ale zamierzasz ich rozdzielić? Harry’ego i Sarę?
- Tak, tak będzie najlepiej dla nich obojga. Przynajmniej na razie. O swoim pokrewieństwie dowiedzą się przed pójściem do Hogwartu, może trochę wcześniej. Na razie chciałbym cię prosić, abyś nie wspominał Sarze o jej bracie. Tak będzie najlepiej.
- Cały czas tego nie rozumiem. – Remus pokręcił głową. – Dlaczego Harry i Sara nie mogą wychowywać się razem w normalnej rodzinie?
- Jak już mówiłem, Harry jest w dużym niebezpieczeństwie. Kiedyś ci wszystko wyjaśnię. Idę teraz na Privet Drive, Hagrid przywiezie tam Harry’ego i Sarah. Ty idź już do domu i prześpij się trochę. Wpadnę do ciebie jeszcze dziś w nocy i zostawię ci Sarę. Dobranoc.

Starszy czarodziej w fioletowej szacie wstał i po chwili teleportował się z cichym trzaskiem, ale Remus jeszcze przez kilkanaście minut siedział samotnie na murku pod wierzbą płaczącą wpatrując się w księżyc, który przybrał kształt cienkiego półkola.
