Conversely, RL will need to adjust its business model to attain its implied valuation. 2. Comparable Store Sales Analyzing comparable store sales will help us determine if growth is attained through store count expansion or through additional demand. Higher comparable store sales show that each store is generating more revenue, which is much more sustainable for growth. Michael Kors has achieved very high samestore sales growth, while Coach and Ralph Lauren are lagging. By analyzing the number of stores each retailer has, it is clear that KORS is expanding the most, increasing its store count significantly. This trend will likely continue as KORS' cashflow from operations increases (223% increase in CFO since 2011). In 2013, RL's revenues increased only 2.9% due to the closing of 867 stores and a 3% increase in comparable store sales. If this trend continues, RL will eventually experience negative topline growth. Similarly, COH is shutting down its stores, though growth is primarily driven through internet sales. ljvsoysb@gmail.com 3. dollar, heavy QE in Japan, and the (since February) depreciating Euro, international exposure, despite larger markets, will hurt revenues. Michael Kors, in 2013, only generated 6.1% of its sales from Europe and 1.3% in Japan. Ralph Lauren generates 37% of its revenues outside of North America, which makes it much more susceptible to currency shocks. Specifically, 21% of sales are from Europe, and 12% from Asia. Coach is even more susceptible to currency shocks, with 48% of sales coming from international regions, particularly China and Japan. Coach's first quarter 2013 earnings showed a 40% increase in sales in China. However, currency exposures may give Coach a boost as the Yuan appreciates against the USD. Finally, Estee Lauder generates 37% of its sales from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and 21% from Asia. Similar to RL, EL may be hit hard with the depreciating Euro and appreciating USD. Thus, KORS, which has the least international exposure, will likely be less affected by currency shocks. RL and EL will suffer from the depreciating Euro, while COH may gain due to the appreciating Yuan. oqrsrgf@gmail.com Vuitton is planning big things for San Francisco, not to mention an array of themed sports gear, watches, clothing and, of course, luggage. Conductor Linn Weeda opted for the ending from the version played in the opera a short chord that would lead into a chorale rather than the sustained final chord of the more familiar concert version. Which brings up . cgjuudogvze@gmail.com successful and was voted the most popular line in the Advertising Hall of Fame . Coined words, puns, jingles and even madeup words (like Louis Vuitton's "Epileather") are also ways to make a tagline stick. Simply being easy to remember isn't enough. Taglines should also build positive brand perceptions through imparting good feelings. Evocative vocabulary is one powerful way to create meaning. Since slogans are made for shorter running advertising campaigns, it is important that they stay relevant to their target market. Taglines, on the other hand, should not strive to be trendy at the risk of sounding dated after a few years. Since a good tagline stands the test of time, it should work across a variety of mediums, functioning like a thread that unifies the stories together. Consistency is crucial: numerous taglines and continual changes confuse consumers and dilute brand equity. H Block, a leading taxpreparation company, flipped between the slogans "America's tax team," "Just plain smart," and its current "Get it Right" in just a few years. The fragmentation risks leaving consumers unable. bsjxmxu@gmail.com and motivating taglines call the audience to take action. What makes a good tagline or slogan? Good taglines are first and foremost differentiating. In a sea of similar offerings, consumers notice brands that stand out, and creative taglines help brands differentiate from competitors. Apple's brand rejuvenation in 1997 is one example: to counter flagging sales and a tarnished image, it launched a revolutionary advertising campaign. Its new tagline, "Think Different" was a refreshing spin on IBM's "Think." Rather than trying to compete with the reputation for reliability and trustworthiness of its chief competitor, Apple positioned itself as a dynamic brand with inventive alternatives to the status quo. Meters/bonwe, China's leading casual clothesline brand, uses the line "p8," which roughly translates to "Not walking the conventional road." Mercedes Benz uses "Engineered like no other car in the world." Both taglines work wonders for these companies because they suggest a benefit to consumers who buy their products. Successful taglines not only draw attention. sotmxp@gmail.com Under the scheme, Clarridge would insert an agent into Karzai palace to collect his beard trimmings and then would run drug tests on them. Blame the gloomy mood of the market ready to punish even comparatively small amendments to expectations.
